About 4 months ago when the sun was shining and I was still wearing short sleeve shirts with regularity, Living Social posted a deal for Shooting and Drinking.  You had me at Shooting.  and Drinking.  Fast forward to Saturday 1/14/12 and the day had finally arrived.

We met in RiverNorth and hopped on the bus to Michigan.  We went shooting first (much safer option) We each shot a 9mm handgun, an AK47 and a Tommy Gun.  The shooting portion of the trip definitely kicked a lot of ass.  Charlotte was our winner being the most accurate with the 9mm handgun.  Kate liked the AK47 a bit much, which I think freaked all of us out.

After the shooting was all wrapped up on to the Round Barn Winery Distillery and Brewery.  Included in the price of the trip was a pint glass or stemless wine glass as well as 8 tokens good for alcohol samples!  I used all of my samples on the beer which was ok (some much better than others but the things we got to try are below and the ones I thought were better have been bolded)

Barodinger

Kolsch

Bob’s Your Uncle

Amber Ale

Harvest Ale

Brown Rye

Cocoa Stout

Oak-Aged IPA

Even though I was out of tokens I had to try their bourbon.  Glad I did, I think it ended up being the best thing that I tried on the trip.

After the tasting we grabbed a growler of the Oak-Aged IPA and went back to the bus for a drunken return trip to Chicago.

I really have to give Living Social some credit for this event.  GREAT IDEA!
